A retrospective of the history of one of the most important Couture House: Christian Dior ...J'adore!

48 hours of Haute Couture

There are some names forever engraved, geniuses that we never forget, ideas that never go “out of fashion”: Christian Dior is one of those names that cross eras without taking any wrinkles.
He is even a legend of French Haute Couture.

As soon as I learned about the exhibition “Christian Dior, couturier du rêve” at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs … well, for me it was clear to Google for a low fare flight on weekdays to Paris: this show cannot be missed as an art and fashion affine person !

During the first exhibition’s months, endless visitors lines were winding around the northern part of the Louvre, where more than 300 haute couture robes from seven decades were displayed in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs on 3,000 square meters.

With my online ticket and arm in arm with my “best shopping-companion-best-friend” I quickly passed the queue, into an exhibition that took me for hours on a spectacular journey through the decades of French luxury.

With superb scenography, we wandered among sketches, years, and dresses, with children’s eyes. Fabrics, cuts, jewels, everything tells us the couturier’s love for the woman. Christian Dior wished to sublimate women after the war, to restore their femininity while ensuring daily comfort. Thus the slim waist, the necklines in the back and the dress under the knee, or even the famous Bar suit, sign era as spirits.  And what about his fairytale evening gowns ...??
The the last room of the exhibition is a delightful immersion in this sometimes inaccessible universe …Wish I could be a sparkling prisoner and wear them all until exhaustion !

But the Dior House is not only one man, and since the death of the creator, many designers have succeeded.

The exhibition takes us into the worlds of everyone, from Yves Saint-Laurent to Maria Grazia Chiuri via the artistic craziness of John Galliano.
A trip to the heart of this great house from 1947 until today. “Couturier du Rêve” is a tribute to one of the greatest fashion creators of all times, the legacy of Christian Dior, which impressively shows how the brand has influenced the fashion industry and the culture for decades.
I am impressed. “Oui, j’adore Dior” !
