Those first sunny days of spring make you want to get out there and do a little shopping for the new season. If you’d like to spend the day outdoors and feel as if you were the honoured guest of an aristocratic Florentine family, then Les fleurs du Mid is just what you’re looking for. When Vintage finds its way to a historic villa, there is always magic in the air!
#nonsolo vintage is back again at Villa Romana (via Senese 68). The event that combines charity, fashion and art is organized and promoted by Mid Firenze. Its main goal is to support Oxfam Italia, the humanitarian association founded in Tuscany over 30 years ago and now part of an international coalition that fights injustice and poverty.
The atmosphere is relaxed. It’s like being on a picnic surrounded by trees in bloom and guarded by statues with sober expressions on their faces. Here you can enjoy browsing through vintage clothes and accessories while relishing in a splendid neoclassical setting or you can attend exhibits, concerts and dance recitals…
My shopping bag is filling up with little gems… vintage eyeglasses that are usually nowhere to be found (new frames for my glasses, perhaps?), costume jewellery that sparkles like fresh fruit (I could practically start nibbling on it).
Then there’s that small framed mirror that I’ve been searching for to grace a corner of my home.
And what can I say about that fabulous wicker armchair over there that looks ever so “auteur film”?!
In other words, spring is really here in these time-honoured Florentine mansions and it’s the perfect time to do some carefree shopping in hopes that this intimate charitable initiative can help us all win a much greater battle.
